Question: Is insomnia affected by time of day?
(Posted by: MoMo on 2012-01-19 02:03:41)
I can never sleep at night. I lie down to try and I end up laying there for hours trying to fall asleep. Then if I ever do fall asleep I wake up after only an hour or two of sleep. But if I try to sleep during the day (as in past five in the morning) I fall asleep and stay asleep no problem. This is getting to be a serious problem. What do I do? |

Sometimes yes, but really what you should do is see a doctor, have him run tests, that way you can get to the bottom of the problem. |

Lying awake for hours is the worst thing you can do if you can't fall asleep. Try to find something that will tire you out like exercising before bed, massaging your muscles or do something to relax your mind such as reading. Crap like yoga or meditation may help too. Lastly, there are visualization exercises such as imagining yourself floating on the ocean or imagining yourself floating through the air on a cloud. My brother used to visualize himself floating on a feather and flying over the clouds, and the birds, and rainbows and looking down at the mountains and houses and all sorts of stupidity like that. It sounds like a lot of work to me but he said it helped him focus and not dwell on problems like school, homework, teachers and dad. What you're doing now is your body is used to a routine of staying awake at night and getting tired and going to sleep at five in the morning. |
