i have tried everything i can think of to help me sleep. warm milk, exercise, reading, soft music, ambient music, aroma therapy and i still cannot sleep. i am normally awake until at least 4 AM and that is when i sometimes start to get tired. sometimes i don't sleep for several days. my doctor will not prescribe any sort of sleeping aid and i have tried over the counter aids and they do not work. i would rather use natural ways to help me sleep. any help would be grately appreciated

I've been off and on different medications for insomnia for three or so years. I'd change them because of different negative side effects with each one. I'm done with that experiment now I'm never doing sleep medication again. Just hate how drowsy they'd make me during the day.Problem is, insomnia still strikes somewhat often. I've always had some problems with sleep..but things have been abnormally bad since I returned from Iraq last summer. I'll stay awake for 3 4 days in a row and then crash for 14 to 16 hours at a time. It's really annoying...and I know what everyone's first reaction is going to be, but other than the insomnia itself and maybe a little more jumpiness when I got back, I don't have any other symptoms of PTSD. I don't have bad dreams...I don't have flashbacks...I don't have anger control issues...I don't drink or do drugs...I don't feel overly stressed out...maybe a little depressed, but hell, I was depressed before I went. I just can't frikkin sleep.Thanks for the advice dude, but I'll self medicate with pot the day it becomes legal. Until then, I have a career to think about.lol...at this point the only " cure" I've found so far has been some left over flexeril I had from old injury and a dry martini or two. First, I'm all out of flexeril...and second, it's not a habit I really want to stay with for obvious reasons. But I'm desperate.El Duderino, that actually was the effect I went for. What are Insomnia cures?
It's 2a.m on a school night. And I've been tossing and turning since 12. Even though I cut the lawn today, I'm wide awake. I just got over a different case of insomnia. I didn't sleep for over thirty hours . So I have no idea why I can't sleep. Any ideas on how to cure insomnia? I can't stand warm milk, but besides that I'm up for pretty much anything. Male, 16 years old. Don't know if that makes a difference or not. Thanks I don't have any medication on hand. Wish I did though. lol

Hey, I have a problem which is messing up my life. I am taking my finals from college at the moment and I study for them so I know everything, then the night before the test I cant sleep so it ruins all my hard work because im so tired. Last night I slept at 6 and had to be up at 8 for an exam at 9. This is really upsetting and annoying because I work so hard then cant make myself sleep at night. Im not thinking about anything, I just cant seem to switch off my mind. I have tried sleeping tablets, no use, they just make me tired and unable to sleep. Does anybody have any ideas that can help me?

I have 100 % no probs falling asleep when my husband is home. I don't change my routine or anything. When he leaves for work, he's gone for 2 weeks at a time and for those 2 weeks I'm pretty much miserable, b c i can't sleep. When he's up watching tv late and I go to bed before him I'm fine. so its not that I NEED him in the bed with me to sleep. Its just when I know that he's not here or coming home anytime soon that my body just refuses to give in.
