I have insomnia, and it sucks!!!!?
I sleep from 9am 5pm everyday. I can not go to sleep at night for the life of me. I've taken Melatonin but apparently it gives me hallucinations and anxiety. I'm 13 yr old girl if that makes a difference with a long line of schizophrenia, OCD, anxiety attacks, bipolar disorder, clinical depression, drug addictions and sleep disorders in my family. Wow... Didn't seem that bad untill I wrote it out.

Do I have DSPS or insomnia?

From about 11pm I lay in my bed and just keep tossing and turning it gets to around 12 then I just give up and just end up watching tv or going on my iPad.... The trouble is that it happens on school nights, I don't get to sleep till about 6 and I keep saying to my self I may aswell just stay up all night but then suddenly I wake up and I'm late for school... It's as if I've just passed out or something ... It is affecting my school work and social life please help

Now my dad won't let me stay home from school, any suggestions that will make him understand?

Best way to sleep when you have insomnia?
I really don't want to take meds for this. I've heard stories about people OD and shit and I'm scared if I take sleeping pills, that I'll never wake up or something. Anyone know any natural remedies for not being able to sleep?

Why do some SSRI antidepressants (Paxil, Luvox) cause insomnia in some patients while it helps others sleep?
I have been prescribed Paxil and Luvox for anxiety, and I had to quit them because they caused acute insomnia. My partner, however, has taken Paxil at bedtime and has experienced no changes in sleep cycles. This same problem has arisen with the pain reliever Ultram, prescribed for my scoliosis. Doctors recommended I take it in the evening, and I can't fall asleep? Is there a medical reason for this unintended side effect? If it helps, I have moderate anxiety and sometimes experience hypo mania because of SSRIs.To clarify, I am no longer taking these SSRI drugs. My condition is stable thanks to alternative meds.

Which area of the brain does insomnia affect?
I know that it affects your memory and ability to consentrate but which part of the brain does it affect?

Is insomnia affected by time of day?
I can never sleep at night. I lie down to try and I end up laying there for hours trying to fall asleep. Then if I ever do fall asleep I wake up after only an hour or two of sleep. But if I try to sleep during the day as in past five in the morning I fall asleep and stay asleep no problem. This is getting to be a serious problem. What do I do?

What should I do about my insomnia?
Basically since high school it's been very difficult for me to fall asleep before 4am, I'm a senior in college now ... the past two weeks it's been impossible for me to sleep before 7am, and sometimes I'm not able to sleep at all. Last night I actually was able to fall asleep at 2am after laying in bed for an hour and woke up at 315. I had felt like I slept for 6 8 hours, yet it was only an hour. Naturally I wasn't able to fall back asleep, and have been up ever since. I attempt to sleep early and nothing ever works. I just toss and turn, millions of things run through my head and I feel like an absolute mental wreck. I haven't been able to sleep for longer than 3 4 hours at a time in a while, and the only time I'm able to sleep is during the afternoon. However, doing this just perpetuates my inability to sleep at night. I've tried forcing myself to stay awake so I'm tired enough to sleep at night, but when it comes time to sleep I'm just unable to, and I end up being awake deep into the morning once again. I've been awake for periods of 24 30 hours straight, and sometimes even more. I'm mentally and physically exhausted, yet I'm still unable to sleep. I've tried physical activity during the day, changing my dieting habits, sleeping in different rooms, yet no matter what I do I just can't stop thinking about my insomnia and dreading the time of day when it's time to sleep. I'm really considering seeing a doctor at this point, but I'm not sure who to see a sleep doctor, a psychiatrist, etc. I don't smoke or drink, and I'm kind of scared to be prescribed any type of sleeping pill for fear of becoming addicted since my insomnia's been a problem for a while .. I don't know if it's just a matter of bottling all my frustration up or if I really have some sort of health issue, but I need to take action soon because I can't keep going through sleepless night after sleepless night. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks for reading.

Severe insomnia? What should I do?
I am 20 and I have really bad insomnia. I've had trouble falling to sleep since I was 12 it used to take me 2 or more hours back then. Then in high school it would take me 4 or more hours to sleep. Now it takes 6 or more hours and usually I only sleep every other day or get like 3 hours of sleep a night because of this. I'm always in an exhausted state but never tired enough to fall to sleep. When I do manage to fall to sleep I often experience sleep paralysis or wake up after only 2 or 3 hours of sleep and can't fall back to sleep. I don't know why this is happening to me. I am a healthy person. I don't drink or smoke, i never consume caffeine and i eat fairly healthy. Also I work out and go to college full time and work part time, so it's not like I'm sitting around all day I'm usually always active dong something but I never can fall to sleep. How can I fix this problem? I tried melatonin already but it doesn't help me at all.

Medical marinuana for insomnia?
I suffer from insomnia and have tried numerous pills to help combat it. I have told my doctor about it and he will just give me a different prescription. I wanted to know if i could get a cannabis card in new jersey for it. I have smoked marijuana before and have had very good nights of sleep. Not many times but when i did smoke, i could sleep normal. I find it helps and has no side effects like that of the pills. So can i get a card for this in new jersey? Im 16 btw

Hello... do I have insomnia?
Ok I'm gonna tell you a little bit about myself. I'm 11, I'm homeschooled, I'm a girl, I live with my dad and brother. Okayyyyy.I don't ever get enough sleep. I wake up around 9 AM, and I fall asleep around 4 AM. Even if I try to fall asleep before then, even if I'm tired, I can't fall asleep. And when I wake up, I can't fall back asleep. I took an insomnia test and the lowest I can get is 8 and the highest is 46. I answered honestly and got 8... The lower you are the more at risk of a sleeping disorder you are. I GOT 8.
